Powered by the USB bus. No separate power supply is needed
This ultra-portable drive fits easily in your pocket or purse, weighs only a few ounces, and holds tons of valuable data
Picked this up 4 use as a backup disc 4 a MacBook using Apple's Time Machine. Runs flawlessly off bus power directly from the laptop. Running without a hitch 4 nearly 3 months at this point & warrantied 4 3 years. Sleek, small, convenient. Have several WD externals & no complaints yet. Well worth it.
Rating: 1 of 5 D.O.A.
This drive was DOA. I tried using on Windows XP Pro & Windows Vista Home Premium systems & it didn't work on either. I must have got the dud drive & I returned it.
Rating: 5 of 5 Great little harddrive
This attractive little harddrive is speedy & sleek. I can take it with me everywhere. Perfect 4 storing tons of music & personal files 2 take 2 work with you just in case.
Rating: 1 of 5 Horrible customer service
As I had just spent hours transferring about 300GB of Data into the new drive, It just stopped working & stopped being recognized by both my MacBook, which is brand new, & my PC. Ok, this stuff happens from time 2 time, but WesternDigital has by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced as an owner of tons of different electronics. After bugging me on the phone 4 about an hour with stupid questions & requests (plug it & try this & that, etc...), they finally accepted the obvious fact that the product was defective, & told me 2 ship it 2 them AT MY OWN expense 2 send me back a REFURBISHED one. Conclusion, I ended up paying more than the cost of a new drive & ended up with a refurbished one. It works fine but I will question the reliability every time I use it & ended up keeping my old (non-portable) harddrive as a back up of my back up. Rock on, WD!
Rating: 4 of 5 Very good product, I love it
This is my first portableharddrive, it works very well & better than I expect. I hope the speed of access can be faster, but definitely not too bad. The shinny surface is easy 2 get the scraches.
Otherwise, it is a very good thing 2 own, light weight, pocket size, decent capacity, & no separate power needed, etc.
The applications that come w/ the drive not very useful.
Pack up your office files & take them home. Carry thousands of songs or pictures. Synchronize files between home & office & encrypt everything on the drive 4 added security. These elegant portabledrives are simple 2 use, light & easy 2 carry, & require no power adapter -- they are powered directly through the USB cable. Comes with sync & encryption & Google software.
