Great Value
I upgraded my old macbook (white one) 2 this model & am very happy. With 4 gigs of Ram I am able 2 effortlessly go from a mac 2 a pc environment without any delays and/or problems. Although I had that ability on the old macbook, the reality was that as a heavy user of large programs, I was constantly having speed issues. This is a thing of the past. Now that Apple has lowered the price, it is truly a great buy.

I returned it
I ordered my MacBook 2 record music. The cd drive was grinding against the inside of the case. The Apple CoreAudio driver doesn't work with my firewire interfaces (FA-66 & FA-101) with Audacity. I tried 2 put Windows on it cause I know the Win drivers work, but bootcamp doesn't load either.

So I returned it. Amazon were really great about the return. Things went smoothly, & I got my money back.

I'll not get another Apple any time soon, but I will definitely buy from Amazon more often.

Get a Macbook Pro or new Macbook instead
Owned this model (Black Macbook) 4 2 weeks. Could not get over how annoying & painful the palm rests were. It was crazy. I would immediately feel the edge of the palm rest digging into my wrists. And no, my method of typing was not the issue, it was the palm rest itself which are strangely sharp. I was also not so impressed with the screen itself. The only way I can describe it was that I felt it was not as sharp as the Dell Inspiron notebook I was using prior. The pros were of course it's a Mac & it's lightweight.

I ended up purchasing a Macbook Pro months later & absolutely love it. If a Macbook Pro is too pricey 4 you, check out the new aluminum macbooks. Half a pound lighter & they seem 2 be much easier on the wrists.

Good computer, but Don't buy from Amazon.
Apple MacBook MB404LL/A 13.3-inch Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive) Black

A good laptop overall! Not as much battery time as the G4 & I replaced the battery 4 this within a week at the Apple store 4 free. My biggest disappointment however is that I bought it from Amazon as they not only will not honor the rebate that they told me 2 wait 30 days for... They are now selling the laptop 4 $150.00 less, & will also not honor the price drop.

My advice is 2 buy it directly from Apple as they have reduced prices on the item & the service is obviously better.

Very nice, but big drawbacks.
I really do like this product, the design is very nice. I do however had some gripes with it that make me give it a 3.5 rating (If I could).

The Good: Very well designed. Runs cool even at high processor usage. OS X starts up very fast.

The Bad: While Windows Vista does install as advertised I find the mouse driver provided 2 be a headache when attempting 2 right click as it confuses it with two finger scrolling even though i'm not moving my fingers up & down the pad. The Apple forums have several complaints on this issue 2 no resolution or updated drivers.

OS X also has its share of problems such as Safari that loves 2 freeze or crash, especially on certain sites like CNN.com. In addition I had 2 rename my entire network 2 workgroup 4 me 2 connect 2 my Windows shared printer, as changing the workgroup settings on OS X did nothing.

Also I sometimes have issues with shutting down OS X, especially if Safari or another app is crashing. It does not seem 2 want 2 do a force everything 2 shut down like Linux or Windows is capable of.

Another note is that the product can scratch very easily (as I see with the power adaptor) & thats why I have used an InCase case from day one.

Additional of odd note is that sounds is much louder (at the highest setting) in Windows than on OS X.

The end note is that using Windows is required 4 me & advertised as working as such & while only 98% of what I want works, the right clicking on lists that love 2 scroll is a headache. Additionally I don't find that OS X works 100% & has it issues as well especially with Safari. I find myself using Opera.

Apple Innovations

The magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter breaks cleanly away, without damage 2 either the cord or the MacBook, if you trip over the cord.

With two-finger scrolling, the trackpad becomes a fast track 2 wherever you want 2 go.
One of Apple's most celebrated innovations is the MagSafe power adapter connector with offers a magnetic connection instead of a physical one. So, if you happen 2 trip over a power cord, you won't send MacBook flying off a table or desk--the cord simply disconnects, without damage 2 either the cord or the system. As an added nicety, this means less wear on the connectors.

Cleverly integrated above your MacBook display is an iSight camera, providing easy video chat capability when using iChat. You can also snap photos in Photo Booth 2 send via e-mail, as well as record videos & then edit them in iMovie before uploading them 2 web sites.

The trackpad can tell if you've got one finger on the pedal, or two. With two, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus. When you need right-click functionality, simply open "Keyboard & Mouse" in System Preferences & enable the secondary click preference. Opening & closing your MacBook is also a pleasure, thanks 2 a magnetic latch that catches without a catch. And because it's a magnet, there are no moving parts 2 snag, jam, or break.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
Experience improved energy efficiency, expanded wireless connectivity, & amazing battery life with the 45nm Penryn series Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor, which has a 2.40 GHz processor speed, super-fast 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB), & a large 3 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; & a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU & RAM, & a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)

The new hafnium-infused circuitry--which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors--conserves even more energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet. With a substantial 3 MB of shared L2 cache, data & instructions can be kept close 2 the two processor cores, greatly increasing performance & allowing the entire system 2 work more efficiently. And, because the processor cores share the L2 cache, either can use the entire amount if the other happens 2 be idle.

Hard Drive & Memory
The 160 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin 2 FireWire & USB 2.0. The 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1024 MB) have an industry-leading 667 MHz speed, & the RAM capacity can be increased 2 4 GB.

Wireless Connectivity
The built-in 802.11n wireless networking provides up 2 five times the performance & twice the range of 802.11g, but it's also backward-compatible with 802.11a/b/g routers, enabling you 2 communicate with the a wide variety of Wi-Fi resources. It works seamlessly with the new AirPort Extreme with 802.11n. Use the built-in Bluetooth wireless technology 2 connect 2 your PDA or cell phone, synchronize addresses, or download pictures from your cell phone. You can also use a wireless headset 4 iChat audio chats & VoIP calls as well as quickly share files with a colleague.

Display & Graphics
Whether you're working on a Keynote presentation or watching a movie before you catch a flight, every document, video, & photo on your MacBook will look sharp on the glossy 13.3-inch widescreen display. With pixel-perfect 1280-by-800 resolution, it's great 4 viewing & working with media. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, which provides 144 MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory. It features Intel Clear Video Technology, which delivers outstanding video playback with sharper image quality, increased clarity, & enhanced visual quality of interlaced content on progressive displays.

Video Conferencing with Built-in iSight
Artfully placed in the display bezel is an iSight camera, which enables easy video conferencing as well as allows you 2 snap pictures of yourself & create video podcasts. Using the iChat AV application, video conferencing is integrated into your iChat buddy list, so initiating a video conference is a breeze. iChat also lets you hold audio chats with up 2 10 people & provides high-quality audio compression & full-duplex sound so conversation can flow naturally. For video podcasting, you can record a short clip using the iSight camera, then use iWeb 2 create a video blog entry or post your GarageBand-recorded podcast.
